An Update is Ready for Your Blog...

I'm sorry for the lack of updates lately, folks. I just realized it's been well over a month since my last post. Between breaking in a new job in my field of study, working on a musical, and a busy schedule on the home-front, I haven't gotten around to writing. Here's where I am with this blog:
  • I'm currently working on one article about digitizing vinyl records using the free program Audacity.
  • I'm also looking into picking up a Raspberry Pi, a single-board linux-based computer developed in the UK that only costs $35 USD. Once I get a chance to play with it and see what it can do, I'll put up a review for all you techies who are looking for a new 'project computer'.
  • Finally, I'm hoping to review Michael Miller's Complete Idiot's Guide to Music Theory, Second Edition, a book that's given me a stronger understanding of the basics of theory and composition. As soon as I've had the chance to check out the accompanying Ear Training Course CD, I'm make sure to put something up here.
Anyway, keep checking back for updates and keep those page views coming. Sometime since my last log-on, I've broken the 1,000-viewer mark (Yay!), so thanks to all of you who've dropped by to check out what I've written!

Merry Christmas from The Enterprise Bridge!

I just wanted to take a moment to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year -- enjoy the food, the presents, and the time with family, but just remember the true meaning of this holiday.

I had also hoped to put up a review of the 2011 British-American animated film Arthur Christmas, a hi-tech twist on the classic "Santa Claus" story, but clearly, I'm not going to have time to tackle that today.

"Where No Man Has Gone Before" Alternate Footage

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. I've recently gotten a job and no longer have all the free time I once did to write things like this. I won't be posting as much as I did when I first started, but I'll continue to put articles up every few weeks or whenever I can. So make sure to check back for updates :)

Here's the original introduction used for Star Trek's second pilot, Where No Man Has Gone Before. This intro (as well as some other elements) were later edited/removed when the series was green-lit for production and had to meet the then-standard 50-minute time limit. The removed footage was long-thought to be lost, but was recently rediscovered by a German film collector and made available on the Season 3 Blu-ray release of TOS. The existence of this 'alternate version' of the second pilot has been known to fans since before series actually premiered (and low-res VHS dubs have been floating around ever since), as it was shown at a conference only days before the first broadcast episode, The Man Trap, hit the airwaves.

Anyway, enjoy this little piece of early Star Trek production history!

Comments issue resolved...

Sorry, folks, I had my settings as such that only registered Blogger users could comment on my posts (I wondered why things were so quiet...). It should now be open to anyone with a Google account.

In addition, articles can now be shared on Facebook, Gmail, Google + and Twitter!

Keep bearing with me as I adjust, tweak, and learn the ropes!

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to my new blog, The Enterprise Bridge! This blog will discuss such topics as choral and instrumental music, photography, sci-fi, technology, and maybe even a few other things (we'll see...). I've more-or-less finished finalizing the layout of this page, although I'll continue to tweak it as the week goes on. I also hope to post my first music-related article shortly, so feel free to check it out and let me know what you think. I'm also more then open to friendly suggestions from bloggers who know the ins and outs quite a bit better then me, so don't be afraid to chime in.

Like I mentioned before, this is my first website, so bear with me as I learn the ropes. I hope to put something up at least once a week, but we'll see how things go.

Under Construction...

Hello all! You've just stumbled upon The Enterprise Bridge, my brand-new technology, music, photography, and sci-fi blog. Since this is my first foray into webpage design (albeit with the aide of a template), any design suggestions and/or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Please bear with me as I continue to build this webpage and be sure to check back later for updates!!
